So, lots of kids have an imaginary friend, right? Well, not our son....he has imaginary MEN. The amount of "his men" is constantly changing, but at last count it was "2 more than 14". I've told B that I can't feed that many people. And that our car doesn't have room for that many people. But, that doesn't seem to matter to him. :) Sometimes we stop on the way home (only in his imagination) to pick up his men. I will suddenly hear from the back seat, "Oh, we just picked up all my men, Mom. One of them is sitting up front next to you and the rest are here in the back." I love hearing what is going on inside his head. He is one special boy (and so is his little bro)!

B Quotes: March 30 edition (almost 4 years old)
There was a plate in the middle of the table with only one chip left on it. B says something to me about there only being one left. I try to seize the opportunity to teach, so I ask, "So how could you say what you are thinking in a polite, respectful way?"
I'm anticipating him to ask politely for the last chip. He looks at it, thinks a moment and hesitates. I try to prompt him, "should Mama eat it?"
I fully expect him to say, "No! I want it!"...planning to move from there to instruction about asking politely for something and maybe suggesting we split it.
Instead, B picks it up, looks at, says, "ok." Then, quickly adds, "Let me taste it first!" He takes a quick bite, and as he hands the remainder to me says, "Mmm! It sure is good!"
Never a dull moment. :)

B Quotes: Jan. 28 Edition
Tuesday night we got home after dark. As we got out of the car, I looked up and saw a magnificent sight.
"Look up, B, we can see lots of stars tonight!"
B looks up, ponders a minute and says, "Mama, one day....I want to have that many children!"
This was not the comment I was expecting...but it makes sense when you consider that we just studied the story of Abraham from the Scriptures. If you don't know the story, check out Genesis 15:1-6.

J Quotes: First Edition
J just turned 2-years-old. He has been saying words for a while and each day we hear new things from him. It's a very fun stage.
Last month as we were driving down the road, his big brother was talking about the place where we live, Papua. J, always trying to copy his big brother, pipes up, "Poo-pa-pa!"

B Quotes: Sept. 27, 2013
Yesterday when I put B down for his nap, he kept calling out for me. I would go to his room and he would have some random question about what he was thinking about. After a couple times of this, I instructed him to not call out for me again or he would be punished. So, today as I prepared him for his nap, I told him that he was not allowed to call out for me. His response was, "Ok, if I have a question, I will just ask myself."

B Quotes: Nov. 7 edition
A couple weeks ago we went to the dentist for check-ups. We were waiting in the waiting room to be called back when an older gentleman walked out. He had white hair with a long white beard. He was heavy set and wore glasses. Anyone who saw him would immediately think: Santa. He fit the description perfectly. He stopped when he saw B and asked how he was doing. B, in typical 2-year-old fashion, hopped around while saying, "good".
Then, Santa, with a twinkle in his eye, asked, "I hope you are being a good little boy. You know who is coming soon?" B didn't miss a beat, with great excitement he blurted out, "THE DENTIST GUY!!"
Santa was obviously a bit surprised, "Ha ha...er...ho, ho, ho". :)
We weren't about to tell him B's never even heard of Santa....but at least now we can say we've all met him...at the dentist. :)

B Quotes: Oct. 31 edition
So were were talking about the Fruit of the Spirit the other day. B's been struggling with some of them... like kindness (particularly toward his little brother), gentleness, love, etc. So, I thought, maybe it would be good for him to memorize Galatians 5:22-23. After I recited it to him a couple times, it was his turn....
B: "Love, patience...carefulness...."
Hmm, I guess I know what else we talk about a lot...
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things there is no law.

Benji Quotes
Benji was sitting on the couch the other day and we heard a noise.
"Benji, do you need to go potty?" I asked.
"No, just gas, Mama," he replied.
"What do you say?" I coaxed.
He paused and thought a minute.
"May I please go sit on the potty, Mama?"
We didn't realize how polite our little boy was! :) All that training does pay off eventually, even if he really didn't need to do what he was asking!

Benji Quotes
Benji got a bottle of bubble bath that has a big picture of Elmo on it. Last night he asked me to turn the bottle around so he could see Elmo. After I do, he says, "Hi Elmo! This is my bath tub (points to the bath tub)....this is Thomas (holds up Thomas the train)....this is my truck (hold up his truck)." Then there is a short pause. He looks out the door of the bathroom and points, "This is happy birthday, Elmo". Then he turns to me and says, "Showed Elmo happy birthday, Mama". : ) He's been calling his birthday cake "happy birthday", so I think he was "pointing" at his birthday cake and showing Elmo.

Benji Quotes
Yesterday morning we had oatmeal for breakfast. Here's Benji sitting in his chair....
Here's what I was hearing while I ate.
"Where's Titi, Mommy?" (Titi is his Aunt)
"Where's Feth, Mommy?" (Seth is his good friend that's almost exactly his age!)
"Where's Jozie, Mommy?" (Jozie is his brother, who happened to still be sleeping at 8 am!)
"Where's Mai Organ, Mommy?" (Our neighbors are Mallory and Morgan) :)
"Hee Haw donkey says" (Now where did that come from??)

Benji Quotes
Benji loves to give kisses. Whenever he gives a kiss he says, "Mwah". That was probably picked up from his Mama...
A couple months ago he gave Mama a kiss, walked across the room and gave Papa a kiss, then gave his baby brother Jozie a kiss, then said, "Benji kiss" and kissed himself on the arm, "Mwah!" :)

Benji Quotes
Since moving to North Carolina in January, Benji's vocabulary has exploded. It's so fun to hear him talking all the time. He'll repeat almost any word we say. And sometimes it's quite hilarious to hear him repeating a word later when he is having a conversation with himself. In the last couple of days, I've heard him talking about "Uncle Andre" and "Uncle Ert" while he plays with his legos. :)
A couple weeks ago we were reading one of his books. On the inside cover it has a picture of a farm and the horse is rolling on his back in the grass. Benji pointed to the horse and said, "Sit-ups!" :)
